The Iowa Hospital Association kicked off Hospital Week with a celebration that honored the local hospital and its employees for their attitude, teamwork, integrity, compassion and excellence.

IHA President/CEO Kirk Norris said the IHA chose VGH because of the great job the hospital and administrator Mike Riege are doing of serving the health needs of residents of Vinton and the surrounding area.

Motivational speaker Steve Siemens (aka the People Builder) delivered a special presentation that involved photos of VGH staff members, and even included a "Bloopers" reel from hospital promotional videos.

Siemens used a variety of humorous videos and photos in his presentation which praised the hospital staff for their dedication to patients.

A cook-out was planned, but rainy weather motivated organizers to have the event, and the lunch, in the hospital cafeteria.
