News : Farmers Market season begins in Vinton

Children released balloons during the opening of the 2014 Farmers Market season Thursday.

The model train display is open during each Farmers Market at the Depot.

Children (and adults, too) released helium-filled balloons, hoping theirs would be returned from the longest distance by whoever finds it.

Adults (and children, too) browsed the selection of fresh garden produce and home-baked goods.

The Schmidt Family Band -- known now as Strait Run -- performed classic rock songs near the tables and outdoor cooking equipment of the Merchant family.

All of these Thursday evening Farmers Market traditions, and many more, have begun returning to the Depot in Vinton, where the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department organizes the market each week through September.
