News : Kings plan \'No More Chemo\' Party for Amillianna

Amillianna King and her family know exactly how many days of chemo she had; but it's over now.

After 913 days of cancer and treatment, Amillianna King, the daughter of Mike and Stephanie King of Vinton, finally had her last doses of chemotherapy on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

As they celebrate their daughter's remission, the King family has two events planned and invites local residents who have helped them over the past two and one-half years to join the party.

The No More Chemo Party will take place on Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon to 3 p.m. at Rodgers Park. There will be lunch, cupcakes and a special balloon release.

Amillianna's mom, Stephanie, offers this invitation and request:

"If you know anyone that we may have forgotten or does not have Facebook please invite them! We want everyone there to help us celebrate!

Please come and help us celebrate a VERY SPECIAL DAY!!! Amillianna's "NO MO CHEMO" Party! Two and a half years of treatment and she is done.

Please let us know ASAP if you will be able to attend and how many so we know how many to expect for food count."

St. Baldrick head-shaving fund-raiser

One morning, during chemotherapy, Amilliana woke up and her hair was gone. Stephanie has participated with other moms in previous head-shaving events to show solidarity with children who were left bald by chemotherapy.

This month, Stephanie will let Amilliana help shave her head as she participates in the nation-wide St. Baldwick's fund-raising event, joining moms from all over the U.S. in a simultaneous shaving day. Stephanie will participate in Vinton and share the video with other participants via the internet.

That event takes place July 27; Stephanie is accepting donations for the St. Baldrick's organization. See her page HERE.
