News : Martin wins VCC Club Championship with play-off win over Murphy

On Sunday, August 17th the Vinton Country Club held the annual Men’s Club Tournament. Matt Martin won the VCC Club Championship in a 3 hole play-off with Rick Murphy, who played well until he found trouble on the 18th hole allowing Martin to sneak into the playoff. Both Murphy and Martin finished 18 with one over par 71’s. Martin struggled early but came back with a 34 on the back nine to get into the playoff. Defending champion Shane Scott and Chad Demaria started out strong opening up with even par 35’s on the front nine. Scott finished 3rd with a 72 while Demaria was 4th with a 74. Chad Demaria was our handicap champion netting a score of 67.76. Jim Murray was the runner-up with a net score of 69.04.
