Kendra Peterson of Vinton-Shellsburg High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2014 All-State Band. Kendra is the Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy and Julie Peterson and is a clarinet student of the high school band director, Nick Waymire. The 2014 Festival will celebrate the 68th anniversary of this prestigious event. District Auditions for the 281-piece All-State Band, 201-piece All-State Orchestra, and 601-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Storm Lake, Hampton, Manchester, Harlan, Indianola, and Washington. Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, November 22, 2014. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. Please check the IPTV website (www.iptv.org) for the exact date and times. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association. Tickets are $18.00 each, plus fees, and all seats are reserved. There are two methods tickets may be obtained for the Iowa All-State Festival Concert: Method 1 - ISU Athletics Ticket Office - At Window (on sale now). The ISU Athletics Ticket Office is located on the west side of the Jacobson Athletic Building in Ames, Iowa. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a $6.00 per ticket handling fee. Method 2 - Ticketmaster - Orders may be placed by phone, online (www.ticketmaster.com), or at any Iowa Ticketmaster outlet. (On sale now) Phone: 1-800-745-3000.
