On November 2, 2014 at approximately 12:40 the Benton County Sheriff’s Office was called to a grain bin site at the intersection of 26thAvenue and 73rd Street for a juvenile that had gotten trapped inside a gravity box wagon as it was being unloaded.

Two children ages 9 and 12 were playing inside the wagon as it was being unloaded by the father. A 12 year old female was pulled under the flowing corn and was not able to be pulled from the corn by the grandmother. '

The child was eventually removed from the wagon by emergency personal at the scene. She was transported to Mercy Hospital by ambulance. Responding agencies include Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Newhall first responders, Blairstown Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol.
