On Saturday, November 15th, 2014, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members and National Honors Society members got together to hang holiday lights and roping up around down town Vinton. Starting at 9 am, the students and supervisors got to work on decorating different shops for the winter season ahead, and just in time too considering later that night the first real snowfall of the season came!
The students and advisors graciously gave up their morning to freeze out in the cold weather and make the town more festive for the big holidays ahead. They were thanked with amazing pizza from Pizza Hut and snacks at the First Christian Church.
During lights and roping the students get separated into multiple groups containing 3-6 students plus one supervisor for each group. The groups then went around to different businesses and spent about two to three hours decorating all of those that were assigned to the groups.
It is an amazing opportunity to get to decorate the town a little more for everyone living in, and passing through, Vinton to enjoy the beauty of the holidays and winter season. Even though it was freezing cold out and it took hours for everyone to defrost, all those who helped enjoyed it and were happy to help!
