Benton County Conservation, in cooperation with Alliant Energy and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry, are once again offering Operation ReLeaf to residents of Benton County.

Alliant Energy's Operation ReLeaf program offers residential utility customers in Iowa the opportunity to purchase landscape trees at discount prices.

This partnership initiative is funded by Alliant Energy and administered by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bureau of Forestry in partnership with the conservation boards of host counties.

Since 2001, more than 62,265 new trees have been planted throughout the state of Iowa during 189 Operation ReLeaf events.

How the program works:

Approximately 2,800 high-quality three- to eight-foot landscaping trees are offered for only $25 each during the spring and fall planting seasons. The trees, which retail for $65 to $125, are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Although the order forms are not yet available, interested parties are asked to search www.alliantenergy.com/releaf for potential trees available for purchase.

We will keep you updated at this site and our Benton County Conservation website, www.bentoncountyparks.com and Conservation’s Facebook® page as more information becomes available in the next few weeks.

Trees will be available for pickup on Thursday, May 28th, from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at the Nature Center at Rodgers Park, 5718 20th Ave., Dr., Vinton. For more information contact: Naturalist, Karen Phelps, 319-560-9809 or email kphelps@bentoncountyparks.com All trees must be paid for at the time of order.
