News : Vikettes donate more than $500 from Pink Night event

Pink tradition contiues: Vikette BB team raises money for VGH Gifts of Hope.

Continuing a five-year tradition, the Vinton-Shellsburg girls basketball team gathered Wednesday afternoon, in pink shirts, to celebrate the success of their 2015 Pink Night. The players and coaches presented a check for $525 to VGH Foundation Director Mike Timmermans and VGH Imaging Services Director Monica Stark. The funds will help pay for breast care services for women who cannot afford them via the VGH Gifts of Hope fund.

In 2010, the Vikette basketball team invited breast cancer survivors to the first VS Pink Night. The tradition has continued each year on the basketball court, and has spread to other VS teams, including football and swimming.
