Five Benton County residents between ages 12 and 20 died when the pick-up truck they were riding in was hit by a semi on Thursday afternoon west of Urbana on Highway 150.
The Iowa State Patrol has identified the victims as Quentin Ray Ary, 19, of Vinton; Triston James-Ray Randall, 17, of Urbana; Nicole Renee Jacobson, 20, of Vinton; Hunter William Tuttle, 14; and Zoey Lynnae Tuttle, 12.
According to the ISP, all five were in a 1997 Chevy pick-up truck driven by Ary shortly after 4 p.m. on Thursday. The pickup was westbound on 55th Street and traveled through the intersection onto Highway 150, where it was struck by a semi truck hauling a tanker. All five passengers in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, Jack R. Youde, 56, of Sutherland, Iowa, was not seriously injured.
The ISP is continuing its investigation.
The Urbana Police Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Urbana-Polk Fire Department and area ambulance services assisted the Iowa State Patrol at the accident scene. The road was completely blocked for a few hours.
Triston Randall was the older brother of Hunter and Zoey Tuttle, whose parents are Eric and Tia Tuttle. A friend of the Tuttle family, Charity Jordan, has set up an account for the Tuttle family at the Cedar Valley Bank and Trust, 405 W. Third Street, Po Box 922. Checks can be mailed or dropped off and should be made out to Eric or Tia Tuttle.
