The Cooling Dancers of the Vinton area competed April 18-19 at the Midwest Starz Dance Competition in the Five Sullivan Bros. Center in Waterloo. Routines were grouped by style of dance and age of dancers.

Judges included Porche “Queen P” Anthony of MTV’s “Best Dance Crew,” Adam Crain, currently a performer at Six Flags St. Louis, and Nikki Molina of “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 10.

The dancers, ages 6 to 18, won numerous awards with each entry placing in the top five “high point” at the event. Additionally at the event, 9 year-old Joshuah Rivera was awarded the prestigious convention scholarship, given to one performer at the awards ceremony.

Having qualified for the National Finals this June, the dancers look forward to competing June 17-21 in the Wisconsin Dells.
