On Monday, Friends of the Shelter members Peyton and Taylor Frank visited the 1V classroom of Tina Vasquez, where students presented them the 186 pairs of shoes they had collected.
The goal is 2,500 pairs of shoes by May 15; so far the project has reached 93 percent of that goal. Students learned that their efforts helped reach 7 percent of the goal. They will be challenging other classrooms to participate.
FOTSI is working with the organization called Funds2Orgs, which buys the shoes. Funds2Orgs helps people in underdeveloped nations to begin their own business.
