Shellsburg Elementary took a new approach to collecting Box Tops for Education this year by making it a competition! Each month students bring in Box Tops that they add to their classroom collection. At the end of the month, the Box Tops are counted and the class with the most Box Tops receives a “pops for tops” themed prize.
On average, Shellsburg Elementary has typically raised around $600 per year off Box Tops. We set a goal of $1,000 this year and reached that goal in February. Since August, the students have brought in 13,720 Box Tops raising a total of $1,372! The money collected is put towards paying for students to go on field trips and other student-related activities.
To celebrate the successful year, the class that brings in the most Box Tops in May, will help turn principal, Ryan Davis, into a human ice cream sundae! If you’d like to contribute to the Shellsburg Elementary Box Tops collection, you can drop off Box Tops at the school or in any public container at Roy’s Hometown Grocery, the Shellsburg Public Library, or Shellsburg Quick Stop.
