On May 12th, four Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter members attended District Floriculture at Hawkeye Community College.
The members that attended the CDE were Jessica Alderson, Katie Isbell, Sydney Walker, and Keri Webster.
Floriculture is a CDE that includes different areas that the girls had to compete in. These areas were corsage making, the team event, a math test, a floriculture based test, plant ID, and a pesticide use test. Each event is scored and in the end the scores are added up to give the participates their overall scores. This year the scores turned out very well. Jessica Alderson placed 1st individually, Sydney Walker came in 3rd, Katie Isbell received 9th, and Keri Webster placed 9th.
The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA District Floriculture team of 2015 placed 1st as a team and brought home a plaque from the event along with multiple ribbons. Everyone did amazingly and they were excited to have went and competed!
