In honor of our Veterans several local Veterans and their Guardians made the trip to Washington DC on Tuesday-May 19th,2015. We left The Eastern Iowa Airport at 7AM. Arrived in Washington DC at 9:30AM. Weather was great (87 degrees).
We went to many Memorials: WWII, Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam Memorial, Women's Memorial, Iwo Jima, Air Force, FDR, Martin Luther King Memorials, Arlington Cemetery and The Changing of The Guard was outstanding and very rewarding to watch. They also did a wreath laying Ceremony while we were there.
We had a great welcome when we arrived at the Regan National Airport. Washington DC. There all of our VETERANS and their Guardians were welcomed with open arms. Our buses were escorted to each Memorial by Police cars, red lights & sirens. We didn't stop for any lights along the way.
When we arrived back at The Eastern Iowa Airport-Cedar Rapids that night again, OUR VETERANS received a great welcome Back. A Large crowd came out for for The Welcome Home.
On the airplane ride back all Veterans received mail call-from family & friends.
Thank You Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Committee for organizing this trip. It was a great day for Honoring our Veterans!!!
