The end of the school year often brings changes to school staff, as teachers and coaches move on to other districts or career choices.

The Vinton-Shellsburg School Board has received a few resignations and hired a few current educators for new positions within the district.

Varsity soccer coach Timothy Kearney and freshman football coach Tony Stenberg have resigned. Stenberg, a Benton Community graduate, is looking for coaching/teaching opportunities there. He had been working with the alternative high school.

Ken Kasper, the assistant VSHS principal and At-Risk coordinator, is leaving the district to become a principal at Alburnett.

Megan Hesson, who was the assistant in the Ag/FFA department last year, will become a math teacher at VSHS this year.

Jeffrey Mangold, who has been an assistant cross country coach, has accepted a full-time position as the ELP teacher for middle school and high school students.

Assistant volleyball coach Kelly Annis has resigned; Beth Petersen will replace her.

Other new hires /transfers include: Tami Tomkins, MS and HS media specialist; Misty Banks, HS Life Skills associate; Lindsay Gallo, 8th grade science; Lori Bierschenk, MS study hall associate (part-time); Shanna Petzrelka, full-time high school study hall monitor; Dee Jeray, Middle School Life Skills.

Recent graduate Jacob Gosse will be the summer intern for the technology department.
