Area VFW Ladies Auxiliary receives awards at state convention
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary 8884 in Vinton received many awards at The VFW & Ladies Auxiliary Convention in June.
We received awards for helping our Veterans, their families, our communities, and our youth. We have programs that we work on all year long.
We also received the Traveling Trophy for the third year in a row. We get to keep it for the whole year. This award is for Americanism.
One of our members Connie McKinley makes many fleece blankets for the Iowa City VA Hospital for the new admit Veterans at the VA Hospital. She also donates many small shampoo's, and other personal care items for our Veterans.
Jeanette Henry-VFW Ladies Auxiliary 8884 President, received The Department of Iowa VFW Ladies Auxiliary Hospital Volunteer of the Year and The National VFW Ladies Auxiliary Hospital Volunteer of The Year. The National Award was a surprise to Jeanette. The National Chaplain Dee made the presentation.
Our new VFW Ladies Auxiliary Department of Iowa President Penny Hurt's theme this next year is "Our Hearts Belongs To The Veterans, Our Love Goes To Their Families."
