Along with seeking donations from veterans organizations and others, the Benton County Freedom Rock Committee has set up a Go Fund Me page to reach more potential donors.
The rock has been put in place just west of the Shellsburg Legion Hall, and will honor all of the Benton County veterans.
Kaye Bonesteel of the group says more input and donations are always welcome.
"The committee still needs input from all of the Benton County communities for ideas on possible fundraisers and deas on landscaping," she says. Also, if there are any business that would like to donate their services, it will need electrical work as well as landscaping. Volunteers are always good."
Donations and ideas may be mailed to: Freedom Rock Committee, PO Box 392 Shellsburg, IA 52332.
There is also an account set up at Keystone Savings Bank in Center Point. Donors should specify the Benton Co. Freedom Rock account.
