News : Vinton man hit, killed by car on Highway 30

A Vinton man whose car broke down on Highway 30 south of Newhall late Monday night was hit by a car and killed.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Michael Moore, 61, exited his vehicle which was parked on the shoulder of the westbound lanes. He walked into the roadway and was hit by a Chevy Malibu driven by 18-year-old Cody Bergom of Belle Plaine.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by the Benton County Medical Examiner.

The ISP is continuing its investigation. The Newhall Fire/First Responders and Benton County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
