Vinton and Belle Plaine are among a dwindling number of communities in the county without high speed fiber optic internet service. Shellsburg is in the process of switching from copper to fiber, Atkins and Van Horne already have high speed service, and outside Benton County, high speed fiber is available in Center Point, Robins, and will soon be available in Palo and La Porte City.
