The Vinton-Shellsburg Post-Prom Committee has a unique opportunity to reach most of its fund-raising goal this fall, and hopes area residents will help.
“We were given the opportunity to usher at the seven home Iowa Hawkeye football games to raise money for post prom,” says committee member Sarah Wagner.
Working with Whelan Security, the group could raise as much as $9,800, if they can get 15 people to volunteer for each home game.
Those who volunteer must complete a form and authorized Whelan to do a background check. During the game, the volunteers are required to wear white Tshirts, black pants (no jeans) and black shoes.
“From what I am told, ushering involves looking at tickets and seating people through the first quarter of the game,” says Wagner. “If we don't get all 15 people per game, those slots will be filled with someone outside of our group. We can potentially make around $9800 if we have 15 per game, then most of our fund-raising will be done, since our goal is $10,000.”
The committee has been recruiting volunteers, and will have sign-up sheets Friday for the annual Fall Sports Blow-Out, which begins at 5 p.m. Friday at the football field. All forms must be completed by Friday in order for the group to meet the deadline. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Please contact Wagner at 319-361-6668 if you have forms that need to be turned in and you need to sign up and are unable to turn them in Friday.
