Sometimes, the newly-restored Benton County Courthouse Clock bell chimes like residents remember, once for each hour the four faces of the clock are marking.
But at other times, the bell rings only once, or not at all.
"At nine o'clock this morning, it rang only once," said Hertle. "It is still inconsistent."
Supervisor Terry Hertle said that county officials have called the clocksmiths to come find and fix the problem.
"Although the clock seems to be running fine, and there probably will be some time adjustments needed in the future, our bell has not rung consistently," said Hertle. "Our clocksmith was contacted and I believe someone will arrive soon to find the problem."
As for a dedication ceremony to celebrate the restoration, Hertle says: "We talked about it but with no decisions or plans in the near future."
