One of the tunes the Vinton Community Band played at its outdoor concert at the Center Point Historical Society Depot Museum on Sunday night, Sept. 13, was called “Happy Everything” and that pretty much said it all.

The weather was good and cool. So was the band’s music. The Historical Society’s bake sale was very well appreciated monetarily. The crowd was good—about 30 people—and did good by helping put away all the chairs afterwards.

The evening started off with flute duet music by band director Judy Trygstad and her 4th year flute student Newelle Dalton. Newelle is a CPU 8th grader and her parents are Lisa and Kelly Dalton of Urbana.

The Vinton Community Band traditionally closes out its summer concert season playing at the Depot beside the Cedar Valley Nature Trail. Judy has directed the band for 30 years.

The “Happy Everything” music was a medley including “Happy Birthday,” in honor of the Center Point Historical Society’s 40th birthday this year.

The next Historical Society meeting is Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Depot.
