News : Three lots for sale: Council meeting to include land auction

These three lots will be offered for sale by auction during Thursday's Vinton council meeting.

The Vinton City Council plans offer for sale three empty lots on the western edge of town to the highest bidder.

The minimum bid for the three lots is $2,000 each; the buyer must agree to build a house on the lots within one year.

Located on Q Avenue west of Highway 218 and south of First Street, the lots are just north of the storm shelter that offers protection to residents of the nearby trailer park.

The auction will take place during Thursday's city council meeting; Mayor Watson will call the bids.

The city purchased the lots several years ago with the intent of using them for housing, said City Administrator Chris Ward.
