News : Telecommunications is a 'Yes'....So now what?

First, thanks again to the volunteers who worked to get this passed, those who donated toward the advertising, and our community for embracing the need to change Vinton’s digital future.

The next step will be for the ballot results to be certified, which generally takes place about 10 days after the election. From that point the newly-empowered Vinton Municipal Electric Utility can begin sorting through the many options for moving forward. Members of the iVinton group have already been contacted by area co-ops interested in creating partnerships and firms interested in completing engineering studies.

We look forward to working with the City of Vinton and VMEU as we move toward finding solid recommendations to be considered.
