The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 12 pm November 17, 2015 at Rosie Boisen home. She treated us to a delicious dinner. Our speaker was John Frazier owner of Frazier Tree Farm. He gave a very informative talk on “new varieties of trees and some tips on the older trees in Iowa.
President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 2:10. Eight members and one guest recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge. Roll call was “A tree you'd like to plant or your favorite tree in your yard.”
Secretary Joyce Bratten read the Minutes from the October meeting. There were no corrections so it stands approved as read. Treasurer Sharen Stueck gave the treasurers report. There were no questions on Treasurers Report so it will be filed for audit.
Jim Murray principal at Tilford Elementary sent the club a thank you.
Cards—Anne sent a card to Luanna.
Fran is still trying to locating a book on Asiatic and Oriental lilies for the library in memory of Cam Wood.
Nancy Weber our District II Director came to visit our club meeting. She gave a brief talk about the club putting in for awards that we are entitled for. We enjoyed having her attend our meeting.
Fran passed around the newsletter “Keeping in Touch” from our National Garden Club President. She mentioned two articles. Our new partner National Wildlife Federation, special Habitat Certification for NGC Members. Cost is $35. to NGC members through end of 2015.

Our December meeting will be December 9 at 11:30am at Windsor Manor. Members are to bring their favorite sweet treat plus the recipe for exchange plus $10.00 worth of children's mittens, hats, sweat pants etc for the children at Tilford Elementary. After the meeting the club will do therapy with the residents making small Christmas bouquets for all the rooms. Michele, Luanna and Susie are in charge of getting the containers ready before the meeting.
The club thanked Rosie for the great meal and for having us in her home.
