Hillary Clinton returned to Vinton for the first time since the 2008 election, speaking to a crowd of about 500 at the Vinton Skate Center on Thursday afternoon.
Vinton Police Chief Tex Paxton said 11 VPD officers helped the U.S. Secret Service with security for the event.
Clinton spoke about several campaign themes, from health care to enforcing the bank reforms passed by Congress to make sure "Wall Street never destroys Main Street again."
The former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State urged her followers to participate in Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucuses on Feb. 1.
"The whole country and the whole world are watching you," she said.
Among the volunteers accompanying Clinton to Vinton was a face familiar to 1970s rock-and-roll fans: Jon Bauman, known as Bowzer on the 50s-style band known as Sha-Na-Na.
While Bauman did not speak to the crowd, many in the audience saw him and asked for autographs.
Bauman said he chose to support Hillary because of her vast experience, saying that Clinton has the most experience of anyone running for President since George Washington.
The speech was billed as an "organizational event," designed to help sign up supporters to vote and encourage their friends to vote for Hillary during the caucus.
Media representatives from several national and international news sources accompanied Clinton to Vinton.
