The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a multiple-fatality accident on Highway 30 involving a minivan in which 10 people were riding and three other vehicles this morning.
According to the ISP, three people have been killed and several more injured.
The minivan, a 2007 Toyota Sienna, according to the ISP, was westbound on Highway 30 when the driver lost control due to ice on the road. The minivan then collided with an eastbound Toyota Corolla, causing the minivan to roll. Another westbound vehicle, a 2003, Saturn Vue, struck the minivan as it was rolling, and an eastbound vehicle, a Chevy Impala collided with the Corolla.
The accident took place at 5:20 am. today (Thursday), south of Keystone, east of 16th Avenue.
The incident remains under investigation; all names are being withheld at this time.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office and several other local first responders assisted at the scene.
