The East Central Iowa Choral Directors 7th & 8th Grade Honor Choir Festival will be held on Monday, February 15 at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School. The event will conclude with a concert at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium.

Participating schools include Bellevue, Central City, Valley Lutheran (Cedar Falls), Marquette Catholic, Vernon Middle School (Marion), Tipton, South Tama, Oak Ridge (Linn-Mar), Cascade (Western Dubuque), North Cedar, Calamus-Wheatland, McKinley (Cedar Rapids) and Vinton-Shellsburg.

Long-time music educator, Mr. Allen Chapman will be the guest director. Mr. Chapman is a director, clinician and judge at musical events throughout the country. He has taught vocal music at all levels, elementary through college, in a career spanning more than four decades.

Local pianist, Lori Ferguson will serve as the accompanist. Vinton-Shellsburg instrumentalists, the Schmidt brothers, will add special accompaniment to the final number of the program

The Vinton-Shellsburg Chamber Choir under the direction of Michala Martin will also perform.

The concert is open to the public. The doors will open for seating at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students K-12.
