The March Gary Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award winner is the Todd and Denise Wiley family from Walker, Iowa. The Coalition commends the Wiley family of Benton County for their outstanding efforts as a neighbors and community leaders. Iowa Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig will present the award to the family on Friday, March 25 at their farm located at 5067 29th Avenue, Walker.
“The Wileys truly represent what the Good Farm Neighbor Award is all about – being involved in the community, being good neighbors and being good caretakers of their land and livestock. The Wileys are another great example of a farm family that goes above and beyond what is expected of them in the community,” said Coalition to Support Iowa Farmers (CSIF) Executive Director Brian Waddingham.
The “Big Show,” which airs on both WHO and WMT radio, will broadcast live from the presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The Wergin Good Farm Neighbor award recognizes Iowa livestock farmers who take pride in doing things right. This includes caring for the environment and their livestock and being good neighbors. It is an opportunity to tell the story of responsible livestock farming in Iowa and highlight the families who make it so successful.
The award, presented by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardshipand Iowa Ag Radio Network, is made possible through the financial support of the CSIF. It’s named in memory of Gary Wergin, a long-time WHO Radio farm broadcaster who created the award.
