Benton County Sheriff’s authorities arrested Quentin James McNeal, age 24, from Garrison on numerous traffic charges as a result of a high speed chase in the Vinton/Garrison area on Monday.
The pursuit began at approximately 5:25 p.m. when officers say McNeal failed to stop for a Sheriff’s Deputy on a routine traffic stop in Vinton. McNeal fled west of Vinton towards the Garrison area and then reversed and came back towards Vinton. Most of the chase took place on gravel roads and State highway 218 south of Vinton.
McNeal was subsequently taken into custody without incident at G ave and 1st street in Vinton.
He has been charged with the following at this time.
Offense: ELUDING
Offense: SPEEDING (OVER 20 MPH OVER)
Offense: VIOLATION OF PROBATION
Offense: ELUDING (AGMS)
Offense: UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF PRESCRIPTION DRUG (SRMS)
Offense: DRIVING WHILE LICENSE DENIED,SUSP,CANCELLED OR REVOKED
McNeal is currently being held in the Benton County Correctional facility awaiting arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Vinton Police Department, and Iowa DOT Enforcement Officers
