News : VSHS speech students do well in Individual contest

The State Individual Speech Contest was Saturday, March 12th at North Scott HS. We had 23 events perform. They received 16 I’s and 7 II’s. We had many amazing performances! The people earning I’s were Hannah Haisman (Acting), Grace Horst (Prose & Solo Musical Theater), Lily Horst (Radio News & Solo Musical Theater), Hannah Hoepner (Expos, Add.), Amanda Covington (Prose), Lindsey Miller (Public Address), David Steele (Prose & Storytelling), Caleb Kruckenberg (Solo Musical Theater), Brittany Grendler (Prose), Abby Scheel (Poetry), Logan Murray (Improv), Baylee Bruce (Storytelling), & Celia Turner (Poetry). Congratulations! All-State honorees The VSHS Speech Team was also honored with five nominations for the All-State Festival on April 4 at UNI. These were Celia Turner in Poetry, Lindsey Miller in Literary Program, Grace Horst in Prose, Lily Horst in Radio News Broadcasting, and Caleb Kruckenberg in Solo Musical Theatre. This is the first time in over 15 years that Vinton-Shellsburg had so many nominations. They all will be performing at the All-State Festival on Monday, April 4 on the UNI Campus.
