The annual Vinton-Shellsburg Post Prom was a big success again, as the VSHS gym, cafeteria and auditorium were full of students, parents and volunteers enjoying a variety of food and activities.

The Post Prom Committee began work shortly after the 2015 Prom, as parents of juniors served on various committees.

One new fund-raiser this year was the organizing of ushers for home University of Iowa football games. The group met most of its fund-raising goals via this effort.

In addition to parents of juniors, this year, a group of AmeriCorps volunteers from the Vinton campus spent the night at the school, helping in a variety of wayys.

Post-Prom Food Committee member Tammy Hepker offered this word of thanks to the AmeriCorps volunteers: "I would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the AmeriCorp Team for all of their help Friday and Saturday. Not only did they assist with setup, food and games but stayed through the early morning to help with cleanup. Each individual was so friendly, helpful and polite. Our community is so lucky to have such a wonderful group of young people. Their energy and enthusiasm truly helped make the event a huge success."

At the Prom, Grant Noren was elected King, and Lily Horst, Queen.

Attention parents of sophomores: Soon you will be asked to help with the 2017 Post Prom, with many opportunities to serve on committees or participate in fund-raising activities.
