Friends of 4-H is a committee that was created by the Benton County Extension Council in June of 2015. Its purpose is to fundraise and provide scholarships for the youth enrolled in Benton County 4-H. It is the Council's hope that the additional monies provided will encourage Benton County 4-H youth to attend summer camps, conferences and programs at the local, state and national levels,

Friends of 4-H started off by having pie auctions at the Benton County Fair during the livestock shows. In three days over $4200 was raised to benefit the 4-Hers of Benton County. The money raised has provided assistance to the Benton County Livestock Judging Team, youth attending 4-H Junior Camp, Citizenship: Washington Focus Conference, National 4-H Congress, State 4-H Conference, Western National Stock Show Equine Clinic, Cattle Fitting Clinic and the Animal Science Round-Up.

Dan Voss, current Friends of 4-H Chairperson says "These expanded opportunities provide experiences and knowledge that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. As a 4-Her, I attended the Washington Focus Trip and the things I learned while there have benefitted me greatly in adulthood"

This year Friends of 4-H will again auction off pies and baked goods at the Benton County Fair, July 13-17, 2016 at the livestock shows. If any individuals or groups are interested in making and donating a shelf stable (non-refrigerated) pie or baked good to be auctioned please contact Jan Kendall at (319) 213-7810 orjkendall@netins.net.

Please feel free to contact any current committee members with questions. They are Dan Voss, Cory Cronbaugh, Roni Frye, Ben Olson, Edwon Yedlik, Jim Huber, Marc Merchant, Jan Kendall and Allison Hicks.
