News : VS alum Ben Hyland to be among first U of I students to visit Cuba

Ben Hyland will visit Cuba as part of a U of I service trip next week.

Given the choice between Romania and Cuba, Ben Hyland chose to become one of the first American students to visit the island nation since normalization of U.S/Cuba diplomacy.

Hyland, the son of Pat and Laurie Hyland, is one of two University of Iowa students leaving next week for a two-week service trip. Hyland majors in business economics and said he chose Cuba because of the opportunity to be among the first current U.S. students to see the country.
