The Buchanan County American Legion, Auxiliary and VFW teamed up for a fund drive including a steak supper on Sept. 25 for the benefit of Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.

With Gene McCann of Aurora leading the way with prodding and a little gentle persuasion, the fund drive was a great success. Gene and his fellow Veterans and members of the community raised a total of $7542.94 as of this date. Honor Flight sole purpose is to fly WWII and terminal Veterans to Washington, D.C., at no cost to them to see THEIR memorials.

There is no administrative fees so 100% of each donation goes toward funding the flight. We have an ambitious schedule planned for 2011 including flights from Waterloo and Cedar Rapids. Please visit our Web Site, www.eihonorflight.org to see how you can help.
