Batman was popular.

The dogcatcher, too. Especially since his dog could do a few tricks.

But the person who got the most votes in the Rodgers Park costume contest was Pauline Stout of Vinton, who won the adult category with her morning get-up which included a bathrobe and curlers.

The contest was part of the Benton County Conservation Board's weekend activities to celebrate Halloween. The Haunted Trail took place on Friday and Saturday evenings. There was also a pumpkin carving contest. Nearly 100 people filled the shelter for the costume contest and potluck supper Saturday evening.

Alex Bahmann won the contest among the youngest group with his Batman contest.

The older kids contest voting was so close that there had to be a run-off vote between the Oreo Cookie (Cassi Moss) and dogcatcher (John Dixon with Jeremy Freemon as the dog). The dogcatcher won by one vote.

There were trophies for the winner, and variety of Halloween-themed door prizes.
