Congratulations go out to the Union High School Vocal Music department on their outstanding showing at All-State auditions on Saturday October 24th in Hampton. 5 UHS vocalists were chosen to perform in the festival, 1 UHS vocalist was selected as an alternate, and 1 additional UHS vocalist made the recall round. This is the highest honor a high school musician in the State of Iowa can receive.
Selected for his 2nd consecutive year was Brady Rempe, Senior Bass I. Brady is the son of Bruce and Mabel Rempe.
Selected for their 1st time were Kassidy Downs, Junior Soprano II, the daughter of Brian & Karri Downs; Lauren Harrigan, Junior Alto I, daughter of William & Lesley Harrigan; Wesley Hanson, Junior Tenor II, son of Robert & Maureen Hanson and Carter Spore, sophomore Tenor II, son of Chad & Heidi Spore. Selected for her second year as 1st alternate was Anna Garwood, senior Soprano II, daughter of Scott and LeAnn Garwood. Selected for the recall round was Hunter Fleshner, junior Bass I, son of Travis and Stacy Fleshner. All of these students are under the direction of Tim J. Mitchell.
The festival takes place November 17th-19th and will be recorded by Iowa Public Television for broadcast over the Thanksgiving holiday. This program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
