The 5th Annual Party in Pink filled Riverside Park and the nearby streets with many runners, including several children, wearing pink and helping to honor breast cancer survivors while raising money for the VGH Gifts of Hope fund.
The winners were JoeScieszinski of Cedar Rapids and Angela Nading-Annis of Maynard. Many members of the VS cross country team placed in their age division. Members of the VS Sole Sisters, the 5th grade running club, also participated.
"We had about 450 participants, 80 volunteers and over 50 sponsored donors," says VGH Foundation Director Robin Martin. "It looks like we will have raised $9,000 from the Party in Pink 5K. We were blessed with a perfect day and the Party in Pink 5K committee wishes to thank all who participated and helped to make this a successful event. We appreciate the continued community support over the years. The proceeds from this event will benefit the Survivors of Benton County and Gifts of Hope, a program created to provide mammograms and other services to women who cannot afford the breast cancer detection screenings and other procedures.
