Thursday night marked the midpoint of a busy week for VS-CPU swimming as the team travelled to Grinnell to face the host Tigers, Williamsburg and Oskaloosa in a series of dual meets. The continuously improving Stormin' Vikings continued their great performances capturing two out of three on the evening, falling to Grinnell 109-60 while defeating Williamsburg 113-46 and edging Oskaloosa 84-77.

That victory was the team's first versus Oskee in the past three years and took a strong team wide effort. A lot of times we hear about the 4 or 5 guys who take first or second or comprise the strongest relays. They are on the podium and in the paper. But the win over Oskee was about a lot of those guys we don't hear much about. The guys who managed to finish 3rd, 4thor 5thin the dual scoring and add a couple points here and a couple of points there. The guys like Anthony Hilton, Rickey Chase, CJ Schoch, Zach Kramer, Donny Sass and Keenan Andreas. Every one of those guys scored multiple points against Oskee. You take one or two of those performances away and the final result goes the other way.

Anthony Hilton came up huge in the 100 Free, dropping almost four seconds in beating two of Oskee's three competitors. His 4thplace against them yielded two points while dropping Oskee's team score by two points. That's a four point swing in a seven point meet off of a single guy in a single race. Donny Sass did likewise in the 100 Free and 100 Back adding several critical points to our total and depriving our opponent of those points.

Keenan Andreas scored four team points by gutting out his first ever 100 Butterfly and 100 Breast. Zach Kramer scored a point in the 100 Back and two points in the 400 Free Relay when he stepped in for a sick teammate and enabled our B 400 Free relay to finish 3rdin the head to head vs Oskee. Freshman Sage Holmes swam his first regulation-length race competing in the 50 Free.

Top performances for the evening were

-Medley relay 2nd- Hekel, Vrba, Allsup, Geator

-Cyrus Elwick 2ndin the 200 Free and 3rdin the 100 Free

-Isaac Allsup 2ndin the 100 Fly and 3rdin the 200 IM

-Lewis Williams 4thin the 100 Fly

-Isaac Vrba and Tristan Miller 2ndand 3rdin the 100 Breast respectively

The Stormin' Vikings finish the week Saturday with their Conference meet at Boone before heading to Districts at Linn-mar the following Saturday.
