While Christmas is a time when many people donate food or toiletry items to the Food Pantry in Vinton, the Vinton Masons wanted to remind residents that the pantry also needs monetary donations to buy meat and dairy products. To that end, the Masons donated $100 in cash to the pantry. Mason Tom Boeckmann presented the check to Sherry Crawford Sunday afternoon. The Masons also recently donated benches to the airport as well as the new Community Garden.

Crawford said the pantry continues to help 20-22 families each month. Both the need for assistance and donations have remained fairly consistent, she said. The pantry accepts donations of canned food and other non-perishable items such as cereal and pasta, as well as toiletry items.
