Taylor Gill on her way to help "Diamond" over the rail for the annual Pumpkin Jump.
The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department hosted its annual Jack-O-Lantern Jump on Sunday at the Vinton Recreation Center/Community Swimming Pool. A lot of mushy, decaying pumpkins were dropped to a target below from the top of the waterslide tower.
Everyone named their pumpkin before the launch and it was quite a sight when they hit and splattered. The pumpkins were carved and gutted before they were launched.
This event is co-sponsored by our local Pizza Hut who gave participants a personal pan pizza just for giving Jack the leap of faith. The forty foot drop can be a little scary but once the pumpkins were launched, they really didn’t feel a thing.
