This past weekend, the "Be You Bravely" event was held at the Blessed Hope Church. The event was created to help teenage girls to realize that they are perfect just the way they are. A group of area women saw a need and have taken the idea and turned it into an annual event. The team put out a statement saying "I'm not sure there is a way to put into words or capture in photographs Be you Bravely 2018. There is no way to document the feeling of the Holy Spirit moving through the hearts of over 60 teenage girls who chose to give up a Saturday to spend learning what God says about them. There is no way to describe the joy that filled the sanctuary, the new friendships formed or the willingness from these girls to "be themselves bravely" and openly worship their Creator. Kristina Glackin and Mandy Sullivan spoke against the worldly lies to tell the girls how they were each created uniquely and how nothing can separate them from God's love. They spoke of their past mistakes and struggles to show the girls how God can redeem any situation and how His love for them is big enough to cover it all. There were bowed heads, a few tear filled eyes, and slow nods as the weight of that sunk in. Perhaps this is the first time some of these girls have ever heard this. Perhaps this is the first time some of these girls ever felt this to be true. There are very few places in this world that teenage girls can come together as one and be themselves. No judgement, no one being critical of them, no embarrassment over past mistakes. But at Be You Bravely......the girls walk through the front doors and don't have to pretend to be something they are not. They don't have to worry that they are enough. Simply they are ENOUGH because God says they are. They are fearfully and wonderfully made. There is only love here. Love from the speakers, the worship team, the table leaders, the "I am Enough team" and most importantly God. Our brave girls, we so love each and every single one of you. Our deepest prayer is that this weekend a spark was ignited for Christ in your lives and that you are able to fully believe that you are who He says you are. We pray that as you face challenges you are able to think back to the words you heard this weekend and build your lives upon these truths. The truths that God is good and there is nothing too big for Him. That who you are IS enough. That you were created for a purpose. Girls, do not live in fear of what others think of you. Be Brave and be you! Most importantly remember, who you are and Whose you are. We are so glad you spent the day allowing us to give you just a small taste of the love that God feels for each one of you. It's a privilege none of us take lightly. Go out and shine His light by Being You Bravely!" The I Am Enough Team Psalm 139:14 "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
