Upwards of 30 artists from across the country will gather in Vinton during the middle of August as part of the sesquicentennial celebration.
The artists, which are part of a larger group known as the Walldogs, will return to Vinton to give our mural history a fresh coat of paint and add new murals as well. The Walldogs made their initial debut in Vinton in 2000 as part of the “Harvest of Walls” celebration which resulted in the creation of the current eight murals.
As in 2000, we are seeking host families for the Walldog artists. Host families are asked to provide a bedroom and bathroom facilities. Meals will be taken care of by the 2019 committee and community groups. The exact dates and length of their stay will be dependent on the artist and project. Dates are anticipated to between August 14 and August 24, 2019.
If you are willing to host an artist (or two!) or have questions, please contact Melissa at the Vinton Unlimited office (472-3955) or Jon Clingman.
Mark your calendars for August 17-24, 2019 for a celebration of all that Vinton is, all we have accomplished and all that is yet to come. A full schedule of events to be released at a later date.
Contact Melissa at the Vinton Unlimited office with questions.
