Virginia Gay Hospital was pleased to accept a 2018 CBJ Workforce award at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, December 6th. The award was given by the Corridor Business Journal after a review process involving Iowa Workforce Development and Kirkwood faculty and staff. Virginia Gay’s award was in recognition of their efforts to recruit exceptionally qualified healthcare employees for the hospital, and its family medical clinics located throughout Benton County. For the past four years, the Corridor Business Journal Workforce Awards has recognized companies that are ahead of the curve in creating and maintaining a workforce talent edge. Those attending the award ceremony at the Hotel Kirkwood and accepting the award for the category “Best Marketing & Recruitment Campaign” for Virginia Gay included Kim Frank, Robin Martin, Barry Dietsch, Michele Schoonover, and Mike Riege. The hospital’s comprehensive “Grow with Us” recruiting campaign was recognized with the award because it resulted in increased hiring. The program was also recognized for increasing responses from younger workers in the very competitive market for health care professionals. Virginia Gay utilized direct mail, print ads, health and career fairs, online ads, television commercials, and a dedicated micro-website developed in partnership with the local marketing firm, Monkeythis.
