Following an investigation by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Mary Ellen Sheeley, age 41 from rural route Garrison, was arrested Monday morning December 13, 2010 and charged with FORGERY and THEFT IN THE SECOND DEGREE, both class D felonies.
The investigation revealed that Sheeley, while employed by the City of Garrison as the Garrison’s Library Director, forged the signature of the Garrison City Clerk on approximately 36 checks between August and December of this year totaling $ 4,062.97.
Sheeley was taken to the Benton County Jail where she was later arraigned and released pending a court appearance December 15, 2010.
The filing of a criminal charge is merely an accusation and not a conviction of an actual offense.
