A Vinton man with a history of drug violations was arrested in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday morning, December 21, for allegedly trying to steal items used to make meth.

Travis Grant Dolan, 37, has been charged with second degree robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of precursors for making meth. Cedar Rapids police say a Menard’s employees saw a man putting items in his pockets and confronted him. He scuffled with an employee and some customers and fled, and was later found hiding in a trash container. A search of Dolan's vehicle led to authorities discovering more evidence of previous meth manufacturing, say police.

On-line court records indicate that Dolan was arrested in Linn County in January and August of 2009 on felony drug charges. He also pleaded guilty to second degree theft after being arrested in another incident in March of 2009. He was also charged with fourth degree theft after an unrelated incident on Dec. 16.
