Virginia Gay Hospital sponsored a movie night at the park on Monday evening as part of the Sesquicentennial celebration.
Kicking the night off a book exchange was held in the Hummel Pavillion where children could trade up to 5 of their books for new-to-them books.
Outside the hospital provided water, sno-cones, and popcorn for the crowd to enjoy as they watched Monsters University.
The Vinton-Shellsburg Cheerleaders were also present and performed for the crowd. As part of the pre-movie events, Be the Change donned monster costumes from the cast of the movie and led the children in a couple of fun dance routines and then read them some books.
Just US also launched the One Book, One Community program for the town, introducing the book, We hope you like this song; an overly honest story about friendship, death and mixed tapes by Bree Housley. To find out more about this project click here.
The highlight was of course the showing of Monsters University for the families present to enjoy together.
Here are a few pictures from the evening.
