Lt. Governor Adam Gregg visited Vinton as part of the Governor's Empower Rural Iowa Initiative.

Meeting with area leaders, Gregg toured Vinton's downtown businesses as well as making a trip to the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School campus.

A group met at the Kirkwood Center and discussed various grant opportunities available to cities and counties in the state.

One of the topics discussed were the Rural Innovation Grants program as well as several other opportunities available in the state.

Sharing their experiences in overseeing grant and loan programs, several of the member stated that funding is out there if you need it for local projects. Sometimes failure to receive these funds are as simpl as filling out the application, completely.

Information about the program can be seen here.
