News : Man injured when van hits pole in ditch south of Shellsburg

Emergency workers carry an injured driver to an ambulance after an accident near Shellsburg.

The pole knocked over by the collision lies on the ground behind the van that struck it.

One man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital on Wednesday afternoon following a one-vehicle accident on 32nd Avenue south of Shellsburg.

The vehicle left the paved road and entered the east ditch, colliding with a utility pole. Shellsburg First Responders and firefighters responded to the scene, along with the Benton County Sheriff's Department rescue vehicle. The accident took place one mile south of the intersection of 32nd and 66th Street, between Shellsburg and Atkins.
